Bruce Coville

Coville, BruceBruce Coville is the author of over 100 books for children and young adults. His work includes picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, and young novels. Among his best known titles are My Teacher is an Alien, Into the Land of the Unicorns, and Jeremy Thatcher, Dragon Hatcher. His works have appeared in sixteen languages, and won children’s choice awards in numerous states, including twice in California.

A frequent speaker at schools and conferences, Bruce has three times been the opening or closing keynoter for the national conference of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. He travels the world to speak in schools and has presented at American or International Schools in Sao Paolo, London, Madrid, Shanghai, Delhi, Seoul, and many others.

Before becoming a full time writer Bruce worked as an elementary school teacher, a gravedigger, a toymaker, a magazine editor, and a cookware salesman.

In addition to his writing, in 2001 Bruce founded Full Cast Audio, an audiobook publishing company devoted to producing full cast, unabridged recordings of great children’s books. He has produced over a hundred audiobooks, frequently also directing or performing. His recording of Shannon Hale’s The Goose Girl was awarded the Audio Publisher’s Association “Audie” for Achievement in Production, their highest honor.

Bruce lives in Syracuse, New York, with his wife, author and illustrator Katherine Coville.
