New York City based Catia Chien is an award-winning illustrator with more than 10 years of experience. Her books have been named Publisher’s Weekly Best Illustrated Picture Book of the Year and received a Gold Medal Award from the Society of Illustrators and a Sydney Taylor Gold Medal Award, among other honors. As a kid, Catia found herself in books. Today she is still passionate about kids’ reading and actively supports libraries and schools as long-standing, thriving communities for kids and adults to learn new things and discover wonder! She is an advocate of literacy rights and in 2012 traveled to Sri Lanka with non-profit literacy organization Room to Read to teach narrative storytelling and artistic voice workshops. Her most recent book, A Boy and a Jaguar written by Dr. Alan Rabinowitz, is a children’s book that encourages kids to look within and find their own voice.
